چکیده
Multiresolution schemes within Harten’s framework corresponding to interpolatory techniques are used for image compression. The numerical behavior of the error-control and classical algorithms are compared. Compression properties are demonstrated on various tests.

Intelligent scalable image watermarking robust against progressive DWT-based compression using genetic algorithms
Image watermarking refers to the process of embedding an authentication message, called watermark, into the host image to uniquely identify the ownership. In this paper a novel, intelligent, scalable, robust wavelet-based watermarking approach is proposed. The proposed approach employs a genetic algorithm to find nearly optimal positions to insert watermark. The embedding positions coded as chr...
متن کاملRevolutionary Image Compression and Reconstruction via Evolutionary Computation, Part 2: Multiresolution Analysis Transforms
Previous research demonstrated that a genetic algorithm (GA) can utilize supercomputers to evolve image compression and reconstruction transforms that reduce mean squared error (MSE) by more than 22% (1.126 dB) under conditions subject to quantization, while continuing to average the same amount of compression as the Daubechies-4 (D4) wavelet. This paper describes subsequent research that exten...
متن کاملParallel Algorithms for Using Non-stationary MRA in Image Compression
New methods for compact image coding based on generalized wavelet decompositions have been introduced recently. Unlike in the classical wavelet decomposition scheme it is possible to use diier-ent scaling and wavelet functions at every scale by using non-stationary multiresolution analyses. In this work we introduce parallel algorithms (suitable for MIMD architectures) that excel the execution ...
متن کاملCompression of color image using nonlinear multiresolutions
A comparison between several linear and nonlinear multiresolution algorithms for image color compression is presented. Some nonlinear techniques adapted to the presence of edges emerge as good alternatives to classical linear schemes. The numerical stability of the schemes is analyzed.
متن کاملQuantization of adaptive 2D wavelet decompositions
Classical linear wavelet representations of images have the drawback that they are not well-suited to represent edge information. To overcome this problem, nonlinear multiresolution decompositions are being designed that can take into account the characteristics of the input signal/image. In our previous work [1, 2] we have introduced an adaptive lifting framework, that does not require bookkee...
